To facilitate the registration of individuals in remote areas such as Balochistan, the committee has sanctioned the deployment of mobile units. This initiative aims to address the challenge posed by the limited accessibility to ISP centers in these locations. Moreover, to cater to the unique geographical challenges of the region, the members have accorded special attention to Balochistan. The Chairman of NADRA, serving as the president of the meeting, has been entrusted with the responsibility of taking extraordinary measures to assist Baloch citizens residing in far-flung areas in obtaining their identity cards. Additionally, an online CNIC verification service has been introduced as a part of the Ehsaas program, enabling people to conveniently check the status of their CNIC applications, with the added benefit of receiving 25,000 rupees.

The board meeting was attended by several members, including Mr. Haris, Chairman NADRA – Mr. Tariq Malik, Additional Secretary of the Economic Affairs Division – Ms. Samar Ehsan, and Additional Secretary of Finance, Aamir Mehmood. Dr. Ashfaq Hasan, Dr. Qaiser Bengali, Ms. Sania Rafat, Minister Yusuf Khan, and Secretary of BA&SS Ghafran also participated via a Zoom link. The meeting was preceded by the presentation of the agenda by DG NSER/CCT Mr. Naveed Akbar.

Regarding the Benazir Income Support Program, the current payment method has been modified. Currently, around 90 lakh Mast families benefit from the program and receive cash support. To address inflation, the total installment amount of the BISP New Payment has been increased from 7,000 to 8,750 until January. Subsequently, the payments will be adjusted to Rs. 8,500 for March and Rs. 9,000 in installments from April to June.

The program’s budget has also seen a significant increase. With 472 Benazir Development Centres already operational across the nation, as the enrollment process becomes more efficient, more beneficiaries will become part of the program. This has led to a 60% boost in the Benazir Income Support Program’s budget, increasing it from Rs. 250 billion to Rs. 400 billion.

In terms of the Benazir Kafalat program in Pakistan, only transgender women are eligible for enrollment. Transgender women are not required to meet any PMT (Poverty Means Test) score requirements. Women identifying as transgender can register at the Benazir Income Support Program office in collaboration with NADRA. Upon registration, they will receive both official registration and cash support.
